When my son decided to join the Boy Scouts, he wanted to focus on learning to grow vegetables. Living in an apartment, we wondered how to go about providing a space for him to try his hand. That's when we hit on the idea of what is known as patio gardening.
While we didn't have a yard, we did have a small patio. A quick trip to the local garden shop provided everything we needed. With planters, soil, garden tools, and young plants in tow, we set up a space for several different vegetables to grow. By the time the plants begin to bear, I had learned as much about growing vegetables as my son.
