A Few Ways To Halt Pests

Having bugs or rodents where you do not want them can be frustrating. Bugs and rodents can cause a lot of problems. Bugs like ants or termites can cause damage to your home, while rodents can carry different diseases and viruses. You want to make sure that you do not have a problem with pests. To help you with your battle against pests, here are a few tips to keep pests away and how to kill them if they do enter your home.

Keep The Home Clean

It is very important that you keep the home clean both inside and outside. If you have a lot of food or garbage lying around the house, you are asking for different pests to come into the home. Make sure that all of your food is in a safe place, but also make sure that any garbage is taken care of properly. You will also want to do the household chores regularly. This ensures that no food is available to pests. Keep the outside of your home well kept. It is a good idea to clean your gutters often as a backed up gutter can cause stagnant water, which is a pool for mosquitoes. Also keep shrubbery away from your home as much as possible as shrubs can be a home for different pests.

If Insects Get In Your Home

If you notice that you have a problem with insects in the home, you have a few options. You can immediately call a pest control professional, and they can come take care of the problem for you, or you can try to take care of the problem yourself. For many insects diatomaceous earth is a great natural pest control. Diametric earth is a natural silica that is can dry out the exoskeleton of a insect and the insect actually dies of dehydration.

Rodents

One of the most effective ways to kill mice and rats is to trap them. Rats and mice will not travel more than a few yards away from where they call home, so when you find evidence of a rat or a mouse, fecal pellets or stains on baseboards, you have found them. Rats and mice can be trapped fairly simply. Make sure that you place the trap perpendicular to the wall so they have to crawl over the pin in order to get the food. This will ensure that they are caught in the trap. Also do not use any elaborate bait. Try to use the bait they most often are eating.
